Data
The data are official statistics published by US government agencies (and, for mortgage rates, by Freddie Mac) and obtained from FRED, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. ChartWidgets is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, the Federal Reserve System or any government agency. Agencies revise their data, releases can be delayed or cancelled, and some values are calculated by us (for example 12-month changes, monthly averages of daily and weekly data, the misery index and the Sahm rule). Values shown here may therefore differ from the latest official figures. Always check the original source before relying on a number.
Explanations
The explanatory texts describe how indicators are defined and how they have behaved historically. They are simplified, may not reflect the latest methodological changes, and are not forecasts.

Privacy
ChartWidgets does not use cookies, does not require registration and does not collect personal information through the site or the widget. Like any web server, ours keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, page requested and time) for security and troubleshooting; they are not shared or sold. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
